Week 7

HEY EVERYONE!

BRING IT ON 2010!

OHHHHHHHHH THE WEATHER OUTSIDE IS FRIGHTFUL! But something something is so delightful.... sing the song for me, I already forgot it!

Okay so I hope everyone had an awesome christmas! We had a crazy full week of great speakers and what not here in the glorious MTC. Last tuesday we had an apostle of the lord come speak to us. ELDER NEIL L. ANDERSEN! How amazing that was! His wife spoke as well. One thing I loved that his wife had said was that IF THERE WAS/IS A MIRACLE, IT IS CERTAINLY A MIRACLE FROM GOD! All miracles come from the lord. The lord is so good to us it's not even funny! Okay so his cute grandkids were there and they go up to sing a medley of songs entitled PICTURE CHRISTMAS! And it was cute one of the little blonde boys kept pacing from microphone to microphone and it was hilarious, I love kids and miss them! okay well lets jusee.... I love that Elder Andersen spoke about a mission being like a piggy bank, when you sacrifice things, it's like putting money in the bank and serving a mission in a sense is a sacrifice but the greatest of all things we can be doing. In the future, we have 18 months to do it (a mission) and a whole life time to think about it. The lord has promised us that our families and friends and those around me will be blessed for the service that I am doing for Him and I am so grateful for the blessings that He has promised me because the Lord cannot lie to us. When we do as we are commanded, the Lord is bound to bless us! It's a 2 way street between us and the Lord! It's never a one way street I PROMISE you that. Just always remember that God's gifts are frequent and reoccuring. And remember that we do not demand the holy ghost. Be patient for it.

For christmas eve it was crazy. Being away from now. It is the time of the year that I remember most about my life. It is crazy to think that 4 years has passed by in my life, it has been by far the greatest blessing in my life to be a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am so grateful for the true gospel of Jesus Christ in my life and for the missionaries who taught me. I'm grateful for each and every one of you who have helped me along the way. I would've never imagined myself 4 years later, being a missionary of the lord. Hoping to find people and to help them come unto the fold of god and to one day glory with them. I know that we have the fullness of the gospel on this earth today and that god loves each and every one of us. I testify to you that I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he is the savior and redeemer of this world. How grateful I am for his atoning sacrifice for me. The lord has never ceased to amaze me in all the things that he can do because he has the power to do all things. I promise all of you that if we continue to come unto christ in everything that we do, say, and think - that the lord will bless you more than you could ever imagine. I promise you that there is always a way when you have the lord by your side. I plead for all of you to strive to be more like our older brother, Jesus Christ. To do as he would do. I love this gospel with every fiber of my being and I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of god and that he restored the true church of Jesus Christ on this earth and that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. Heed unto his counsel and always listen to the sweet promptings of the spirit. And I solemnly testify of these things in the name of my lord and my savior, Jesus Christ - amen!

Okay before I finish about christmas eve as a MTC it was so fun, the presidency of the MTC made a 12 days of christmas song, MTC STYLE! So it was like this so sing the beginning parts... you know how it goes so i'll just list the 12 things! It was so fun! We all got so into it! and as a gift, the presidency gave us these bookmarks donating by some family in Utah and they gave us all a huge bag of kettle corn! Okay so the song:

1. rock solid testimony
2. 2 haircuts free
3. 3 new companions
4. 4 chocolate milks
5. 5 hrs of gym!
6. 6:30 wake up!
7. 7 luke warm showers
8. 8 hrs of rest
9. 9 outbound calls
10. 10 more commandments
11. 11 lords of laundry
12. 12 hrs of class

Okay so on Christmas day we had a morning devotional with another apostle of the Lord! Elder L. Tom Perry! How cute is this man! I love him! It is such a wonderful blessing to always here from an apostle of the Lord. He told us to always remember our families no matter where we are and remember that families are the center of the lord's plan! On top of that we had a Christmas talent show, it was hilarious and wonderful. I am always so amazed at peoples talents. We had things from piano pieces to balloon animal making! To violin pieces to break dancing and yes a kid did a slow motion techno dance to I AM A CHILD OF GOD! hahahaha I love how corky and weird mormons are. It's ridiculous.

Anyways for Christmas day we had an awesome fireside given by Greg Olsen the artist. Google his art work, it's amazing. he was so inspiring. I love art! A picture certainly speaks louder than words! He told us to leter the Lord gather us under his wing and to just slow down with life. Oh and interesting thing, have you all seen that picture with Jesus Christ standing outside the door. Take a good look, notice that none of the doors in the pictures have NO door knob.... and that's symbolic of, we have to open the door and that the door is our heart. We have to let the Savior in, he won't let himself in. We don't have to look far for his love - just remember that. Remember ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you.

Last thing, so on Sunday we had an AMAZING speaker his name is Richard Heaton. He does something in the MTC I forgot to write it down but pretty much he spoke about how no matter how unholy we are or incompete, the Lord will make it happen and he spoke about how the Lord wants to bless us and help you succeed and accomplish his will joy in missionary work comes when we give ourselves to his service, and trust in his timetable and in his power for his outcome. I love it. Remember that it is in the lord's time and by the Lord's will and by the lord' power. We have to set goals upon the lord's time. The Lord has as plan for each of us specifically. Take the time to make sure you're doing the things that you need to be doing, not what the person next to you is doing or can do or whatever (thanks for that advice sara) okay and another good point he made was if we wonder how we are doing and not how the investigator is doing, we miss it all. We need to dial in to FOCUS! Remember that the blessings of missionary service is joy and that we should give our whole self to him!

I love you all! have a great week!!!!
love,
SISTER WU

Week 6

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Okay first off I do apologize for last week, i ran out of time! I promise I won't do it again unless I'm dying haha. okay so this week i want all of you to read matt 14 in the bible! so pretty much this is what I got out of it and love about it. losing focus on the lord in life will make you sink in life. when we doubt in the lrod and in his power, we don't prgoress. Remember that fear and doubt are a deadly enemy to progress. Read moroni 7:33 "and christ hat said if ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me" don't limit the lord! he has the power to do all things! have FAITH! Always remembering, who the lord calls, the lord qualifies! Okay next thing is read 1 nephi 18. After nephi was tied up for 4 stinkin days in the ridiculous weather and what not, what was the first thing he says? read verse 16! Nephi thanks the Lord and doesn't complain that he just went through that trial! how amazing! lets follow his example! Another cool thing, so the other sunday, there was a Sister from Pakistan and her family is cathloic and her family pretty much hates her now but she said that she's on a mission because she chooe the love her savior over all love. what faith she has! sacrifices brings forth the blessings of heavens! Achieving goals requires sacrifices. I want all of you to think about how does achieving goals allow the lord to bless you? and remember that while working towards a goal. It's better to gradually work towards it! The Lord doesn't expect us to be perfect or know a foreign language or know class material the next morning we wake up! I can promise you as you focus on the Lord and have faith in him in everything that you do, that the lord can only BLESS you. I love that promise. The Lord cannot lie.

So to have faith is to have confidence in something or someone. that someone is Jesus Christ. and that something is the atonement. always remember that. I've learned quite a lot about myself and who I am and who I want to become while here at the mtc. It's a very humbling experience learning the khmer language but I grateful I am for the lord that he trusts me enough to do his work and to preac the good news to the cambodian people. I'm so exciting. I'm half way done and have a long way to go but it's all good!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR LETTERS AND PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. LET US ALL REMEMBER THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS! AND EVERYONE BE SAFE ON NEW YEARS!

Week 4

HELLLLLOOO FROM SNOWY UTAH!

Okay so this week, i'm totally pushing myself like crazy. the khmer is coming along for me. i'm learning 25 new words a day and hopefully by saturday, i'll be rockin my TRC - if you don't know what that is, ask someone who is an RM hahaha. i have little time again but i'll try to spit everything out!!!

So this week we did a cross teaching with the HMONG speaking elders and we spoke about christlike attribtues and how they don't come in one day and you wake up and you have all of them. christlike attributues come with time and you ahve to develop them but you have to pace yourself as well. the Lord won't give you these attributes but i can promise you that He WILL give you opportunities to develop them. you have to take every opportunity that he gives you. it's a great blessing to have a chance to becomel like the Savior. Pray to the Lord and consistently strive to be like the Savior everday. i promise you with all of my heart that it will make all the difference in your life day to day and for the eternities.

we talked a lot about the topic of the GRACE OF GOD. and how by the grace of god are we able to do things that we aren't able to do just as humans. have you ever thought about the fact that president hinckley travelled all the time and he was so old but was so active? how is it that he could do all those things at such an old age??? it's because he loved what he was called to do. he loved the people that he served and most of all he loved the Lord with every fiber of his being. i can guarantee you that the grace of god exists and that you will be blessed with the grace of god as long as you earnsetly strive to build the lord's kingdom by the small and simple things you do for others. it's a great blessing to have the lord love us THAT and THIS much. i love the Lord - He is SO good to us.

okay hey everyone will you all please send pics of yourselves!!!! CHARI THANK YOU for the pics!!! they cracked me up! i loved it but okay anyways

cheryl lant came to speak at our devotional last tuesday night and she spoke about how when you pray you should bea ble to see thE Lord's face in your prayers. he knows each and everyone of us by name and he know's every thought, desire, need, and worry that you have. just talk to him!!! and she always spoke about, WHAT IS IT THAT WE ARE?!?! as a missionary, i am sister missionary called of god and with the authority given to me, i will be endowed with the power to serve him to build his kingdom!!

everyone i love you all and most importantly the lord loves you the most!!! i love this gospel and the truth and happiness and trials that it brings to my life. it is the greatest blessing to be the Lord's missionary and i can promise you when you are on the lord's errand, you are entitled to HIS help!!! i solemnly testify to you that i know that jesus is the christ and that he lives and that he will come again!!!

DEAR ELDER ME!!!! I LOVE YOU ALL! thanks for the support

week 3

HEY EVERYONE!!!

I hope you all had a sweet thanksgiving. we had Jeffrey R. Holland come to speak to us for Thanksgiving devotional. He is just SIMPLY AMAZING. He spoke about homesickness and how we as missionaries feel like that sometimes but that the Lord feels like that for us, ALL THE TIME and so therefore we should BRING AND GET EVERYONE BACK TO HIM!!!! Everyone check out D&C 123:13 I love the line that says that we should wear out our lives in serving Him. What a wonderful work this is. Okay for devotional on sunday night we had a Robert Swensen come to us and his main message was about obedience with exactness and willinginess. how it's so important that we follow the Lord as He wants us to, not this and that - follow HIS WILL, not OURS. what a great message. Sara it made me think of you and your mission how your mission president spoke about obedience with exactness. Okay and he also talk about how 1+1 = 3 meaning person and person aka companionship = 3 how does that work? me being asian and all, I'm like uh NO 1+1 = 2 hahaha the extra person comes from the Holy Ghost and that when you and your companion work together, the spirit will be with you and I've realized that the holy ghost is your key to the Lord. We need it because needing the spirit means we need the Lord right? Okay sorry my thoughts are so scattered by in Preach My Gospel, check out page 11 it talks about how we will see and feel disappointments while on our missions but we at least should know that we tried our best for that day and that you can't be disappointed in yourself for that. remember that you can control your actions but not the actions of others. So try your very best in all that you do everyday! It's a great feeling when you can go to the Lord at the end of the night and say that you have done your very best for that day!

Hey shoutout to the DC north sisters!!!! good luck with festival of lights!!!! SEND ME PICS!!! I'll miss it for my 4 year anniv baptism! CRAZY! rock it sisters!

I love you all, thanks so much for your prayers and supoprt and letters :)

Let the Lord help you, stretch you, love you, and USE you!!!

The church is true and it's freezing in UTAH hahahaha

As far as my classes are going, holy moly - I rather be in exam week for a whole year hahahahaha than be in class sometime. it's so hard, the langauge is coming along.... VERY SLOWLY. Carlos, you were right - it's rockin my world. this time next week, my teachers will only speak in khmer (cambodian) and write in the cambodian script which looks like a two year old scribbled all over the page. google. com what cambodian writing looks like. I promise you it will blow your mind!!!!! Week 1

HELLO EVERYONE!

My first email from the MTC. Let me tell you guys, this place is CRAZY. I am on the go non-stop, and that is an understatement. We've had some pretty cool people come speak to us. We had Sheri Dew come speak to us on Sunday night for a fireside talking about who we are to the Lord and what He has truly done for each of us, individually. Think about those two questions! We have a devotional tonight and I'm singing in the CHOIR... what a joke right?!?! hahahaha, we all KNOW I DO NOT SING! :) It's okay though, it's all good. BUT TONIGHT apparently, rumor is that we will have a general authority come speak so that's pretty cool. It's been a crazy time here, that's seriously the best way to put it. I've met people from all over the world, I kid you not. Germany, Italy, Spain, China, Pakistan, India, Samoa, etc.... the list GOES ON! It's like the world is in this one place! I'm moving about 10000000 miles per hour it's ridiculous. This is a great place and a great work, I know that the Lord has a purpose in everything and that He pushes us to stretch us to be the best that we can be. Sometimes, I'm resistant to that idea but you're pretty much almost forced to stretch as the Lord stretches you because if you don't go with it, you'll be so behind in the work. This is a place where people all over the world are coming together for one reason, which is to spread the good news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Mission aren't easy, I can already tell you that after less than a week here but I know it'll be okay. I hope to one day on my mission, truly forget about myself and go to work 100%. Hey D.C. sister missionaries, I've meet 3 sisters headed your way to the D.C. North mission!!!! HOW FUN! One is from Italy, Spain, and Ecuador! I'm so jealous of them! I hope you all are doing well. Hey and Erika! I saw your little brother Elder Howard, like 4 times already!!! Also, KAMI STRAIT - LISTEN UP WOMAN! I met an Elder Colin Walch, WAY COOL KID! We LOVE YOU and talked about you, how is it going with you know who.... yea?!?! Hahahaha I love you all, I know this work is the most important work on the earth. keep going with all the things you all are doing with the Lord at the top of your list. When you put the Lord first, everything will fall into place. Things might not always be easy but it'll be alllllllllll good in the neighborhood! EVERYONE use Dearelder.com, it's an AMAZING thing, I get those letters ALL DAY!!!!! Please use that or send letters and packages are always welcome, I have yet to receive a package! FIRST ONE GETS A LETTER hahaha thanks to all those who sent me letters though :) They are so appreciated. I miss everyone, I hope you all are doing well. Please write me and let me know what's going on in your lives. I love you all, the Lord does too. The church is true! Until next week! SEE YA!

Sister Wu
